In my Life Science class, we are discussing genes and heredity. A gene is a unit of heredity which is transferred from a parent to offspring and is held to determine some characteristics of the offspring. Genes are made up of DNA and are found on chromosomes, and chromosomes are found inside cells. Cells are the very small units that make up all living things and our body is made of billions of them. This is some heavy stuff!
While an individual’s natural hair, eye, and skin color are an inheritance determined by their parents, some personal characteristics are not inherited, but are due to the choices an individual makes for themselves. That’s right, individuals get to choose ideologies, religions, leaders, partners, moods, likes, and dislikes! Something that’s really cool about choosing is that the choice doesn’t have to be a permanent choice.
This moment right now is a great time to choose who you want to be!
